The Journey #8: Curiosity is all you need.
Do we, Trail Runners, have enough creativity and curiosity to stay motivated?
This post takes ~ 2min to read
Team,
How are you doing? Hope you had an incredible week.
I don’t know if you felt the same but, during these days, through social media, it seems that one of the “hot topics” is curiosity and the importance that this "thing" has, namely, given the restrictions we have been experiencing and the structure of our current society. However, as trail runners, we believe that curiosity and the desire to explore are intrinsic to us.
Wait…is it true? Are you a curious person?
As humans, we are much used to avoid hard tasks. We easily put them aside. Or, on the other side, we procrastinate and tend to postpone something that we know is: boring, painful, or hard. Additionally, as we grow older, we tend to be less curious about things, we explore less especially because we think that everything has been done and all the information we get from the environment, makes us take everything for granted.
🤔 OUR THOUGHTS
“I don’t feel motivated. There are no races for me to compete”
“Why should I do it?”
“I can’t do it. It is not for me.”
👂 REALITY
Think about this…
Are you curious enough?
Do you really want it?
Do you have a vision or a purpose?
Or, are you doing it just for the “feed”?
👟 TO TAKE ACTION
Your curiosity is the best guide you can have in life.
Babies and kids learn because they are curious. And they really focus on it. That’s how they discover life.
Curiosity builds the will and the way.
Team, our suggestion is really simple: we are sure that if you have the curiosity of doing X or Y, motivation will come automatically. Imagine now if you put all your creativity into practice. You can achieve everything you can. You might find yourself doing a project that has never been done.
This is exactly the strategy used by the ultrarunner Rickey Gates, someone who is an artist and doesn’t need a race to feel motivated. He is curious enough to create his own challenges. Here is a message from him 👇
Every time you go out, you have the chance to explore, working on yourself, get to know new places, test yourself, “write” new chapters of your inspiring story. And by being curious and creative, going out to work on yourself, will lead to a bigger focus on what really matters to you. YOU.
So, when you think that “curiosity” is just a thing with no importance, let us say this louder for the people in the back: curiosity is THE thing.
As a trail runner, believe when we say: you have everything you need to succeed in life. In sports and also personal life.
Next time you doubt about this: come to us and ask. We will remind you how great you can be.
TELL US: do you consider yourself a curious person? how do you motivate yourself to succeed in all your challenges (work and sport)?
