Welcome back team! 👋
First, hope this message finds you well.
This week, I will start by being honest. After two weeks feeling unproductive and with lack of inspiration, we are back! There is a vision to turn into reality and we must be fully committed to make it happen. For the community and for the sport of trail running.
How many times in a week we use, for example, sports apps like STRAVA to check the running times and PR’s from other runners, open social media platforms to compare our pace, photos, bodyshapes with other athletes, look to others, such as our workmates, to see if they are doing more than we do. Is that really your main focus?
Ignore those who you might consider competition.
Don’t compare yourself to others.
Their finish line, in a race, is the same as yours but, in life, you are the responsible to set your finish line:
➡️ How far you want to go;
➡️ How high you want to elevate your life;
➡️ How much you want to succeed;
And success doesn’t mean perfection.
Success means…to live a life fully lived.
Being part of this community, we are not looking to give you chances to compare yourself with your fellow community members. With this “Endurance Club” we want you to have the chance to be with people that have one thing in common with you: “Mission Purpose”, to be the best version of ourselves.
So, the question is:
Why we use the “average” metric, comparing ourselves with other runners, workmates, when we have the chance to, everyday, put the work that will lead us to be the best version we can be?
Set your own “finish line” since this is not a race against others, it is a race against yourself.
Growth Station
🛑 “Stop hacking your life” - a really interesting twitter thread by the ultra endurance athlete Rich Roll about why it is important to not choose short cuts to get results. Yes, it is hard. But it is damn good to see some progress (even if it is a slow progress).
🐌 The benefits of slowing down - talking about slow progress, here is a real interesting article (5 minutes) about the benefits of slowing down by the one and only, Anne-Laure Le Cunff from Ness Labs.
We got your back!
